Weiser Book Giveaway: A Magical Tour of the Night Sky

by Renna Shesso

“The sky was our original calendar, our original storybook, the first illustrated edition, the prototype GPS. Beyond its pragmatic usefulness, the sky was the domain of spirit, traversed by deities and a place to which human souls departed. Let’s re-enchant it, shall we?”

Shamanic practitioner, Wicca priestess, and author of Math for Mystics, Renna Shesso invites readers along as she takes a pagan’s look at the night sky—as messenger, guide, storyteller, and mother. She weaves together facts and folklore about the heavens that can’t help but fill readers with awe and guide them to personal and sacred discoveries.

Using a planet-by-planet, star-by-star chapter format, A Magical Tour of the Night Sky draws on astronomy, Tarot, shamanism, astrology, Wicca, lore, legend, and history to interpret the patterns and movement of the night sky and re awaken our spirits.

Included is a treasure trove of information about the North Star (including Ophiuchus!), the Sun, the Precession of the Equinoxes, the Moon, and the visible planets, and each chapter ends with practices people can try to help get them back in touch with their sacred selves.

The winner of this drawing will receive one (1) copy of “A Magical Tour of the Night Sky” by Renna Shesso.

The drawing for this giveaway will occur on Friday, November 25th around noon CST.  Entries (comments on this blog post) must be dated before then to be counted.

You will receive one entry for each of the following:

One entry per comment please!

Winners will be announced on the blog and notified by Friday, December 2nd.

My favorite Planet would be Venus, because as toxic as she may be, she bears life upon and deep beneath her surface.

My favorite Star would be Anteras, as it is the heart of the Scorpion, and reminds me that all hearts contain a star seed of their own.

My favorite Constellation would be Scorpio, as it embosses patience and determination, as well as the ability to strike down obstacles.

Just found this site- love it!
This book is exciting–I enjoy astronomy and astrology, especially the “new” discoveries past our known universe. Just signed up for the newsletter and to follow on Twitter…
My most recent facination is with the moons of Jupiter–waiting for the “educated” verdict regarding signs of water.

Earth, of course. It’s the only one we can live on.

My favorite planet is Venus, as it is named for the Goddess Venus who is associated with love, passion, and fertility. My favorite star is the North star, brightest in the sky. My favorite constellation is Orion, one of the first constellation I ever learned as a child, which contains so many interesting astrological entities. I obviously don’t know much about astrology, but it has always been a subject which interests me and i would love to have this book so I could learn more.
